Detroit’s first Wahlburgers location is fast-approaching opening day, according to JACK Entertainment. The restaurant chain operated by actor Mark Wahlberg and brothers Donnie and Paul Wahlberg is slated to expand to Greektown next month.
Mark Wahlberg confirmed the timeline in an announcement on Saturday outside the forthcoming restaurant where he was filming scenes for upcoming episodes of the A&E television show Wahlburgers. Standing next to Bella Piatti owner Nino Cutraro, who’s partnering in the Michigan and Ohio expansions, Wahlberg stated that burger restaurant would open its doors within four weeks — roughly around July 23.
Wahlberg, who is also reportedly in the city shooting scenes for a new Transformers franchise film, encouraged people to come downtown. "We’re going to be here every night hanging out," he says.
Wahlberg originally let the location of the chain's first Michigan restaurant slip in December during a press junket interview. The 4,200-square foot, multi-level eatery will seat roughly 130 diners and feature two bars and a patio area.
