CHEF SHUFFLES — Chef Matt Dalton, formerly of Craft Work in West Village, has joined the team at Parkside Tavern in Auburn Hills as executive chef. [EaterWire]

IDK — Thursday’s big news story was an alleged birthday cake punting at at a Kroger in Bloomfield Township. Authorities say they’re investigating an incident in which an angry customer was accused of drop-kicking a Batman v. Superman birthday cake in the bakery section because she "was not satisfied with the decoration on the cake." The disgruntled woman allegedly "went behind the bakery counter in an attempt to fix it herself." [Freep]

EVENTWIRE — Ann Arbor-based Japanese restaurant Slurping Turtle will host another round of its annual Ramen Battle on July 10. Five chefs including Jared Bobkin (Bayview Yacht Club), Doug Hewitt (Chartreuse), Andy Hollyday (Selden Standard), Tadashi Nagura (Slurping Turtle), and David Koshizawa (The International Culinary School at the Art Institute) will face off, bringing their own special flavor profile to the traditional noodle soup. The champion receives $2,000 toward the charity of his choice. Tickets are $75. [EaterWire]
