Southwest Detroit eatery Taqueria El Rey was hit with an armed robbery last week. According to a police report the crime occurred around 7:30 p.m. on May 9. The report indicates that the suspect, described as a white male wearing a white ski mask, made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Detroit Police Department released video of the robbery to The Detroit Free Press in hopes of identifying the perpetrator. In the video the masked man is seen entering the restaurant and approaching the register with a silver gun. The clerk then opens the register and the robber removes a wad of cash. He then exits the restaurant. An exterior clip shows a man wearing similar clothing standing across the street who appears to be holding the mask in his hand. Police estimate the man is around five-foot-five and 180 pounds with blonde hair, tan boots, black or blue pants, and a long-sleeved burgundy or black shirt. The 4th precinct is accepting tips at 313-220-0068 or 313-596-5440 or at the Crime Stoppers line: 1-800-733-2587.
