Brace for more cheese curd and gravy-slathered french fry options. The Detroit News reports that Canadian poutine empire Smoke's Poutinerie is launching a major Midwest invasion with Michigan locations planned for Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Lansing. Smoke's also plans to branch out into Ohio and Indiana.

Metro Detroit, of course, already has plenty of excellent poutine from Brooklyn Street Local to One-Eyed Betty's, but Smoke's will perhaps be Detroit's first and only restaurant devoted entirely to the hangover food. Smoke's menu boasts 30 different varieties of poutine, including Philly cheesesteak, fajita, and pierogi. The company hasn't yet announced any specific locations or timelines, although one Midwest outpost is anticipated to debut this year.

Smoke's operates 100 locations in Canada and last year began its U.S. expansion starting with San FranciscoLos Angeles, and Las Vegas. The gravy fry chain is also slated to expand into Maryland. So far, each new location's interior has had a localized flair. Stay tuned for more updates.
