Chef-driven, mini chain Atomic Chicken's first location launches April 29 in Clawson. The doors swing open at 4 p.m. following a ribbon cutting. The Clawson restaurant is a carryout-only shop inside the former Faym-Us Chicken and Seafood on Main Street.
Atomic's menu features several different styles of chicken sandwiches and chicken & waffles dishes including tikka, buttermilk fried, and Japanese fried chicken. The restaurant also serves smothered biscuits, sides, and flavored puddings for dessert.
A second Atomic location is in the works in Detroit's New Center neighborhood. Located in the former Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen on Woodward, that restaurant will have a larger footprint with some indoor seating. Atomic's partners Matt Baldridge, Greg Reyner, and Scott Moloney estimate the second shop will debut in July.
