Pittsburgh icon Primanti Brothers is expanding to Metro Detroit. Hometown Life reports that the company's first Michigan locations are landing in Novi and Taylor. The chain, founded in 1933, is known for overstuffed sandwiches topped with french fries and coleslaw and served on between thick slices of bread.

The first metro area restaurant is slated to open this summer in the Novi Town Center at 43335 Crescent, with a second location headed for Taylor's Southland Center. Primanti Brothers currently operates 31 locations, mainly in Pennsylvania. The original restaurant located in Pittsburgh's Strip District is a James Beard America's Classics Award winner.
