Chef Matt Dalton has left West Village eatery Craft Work, owner Hugh Yaro confirms to Eater. Dalton helped open the neighborhood restaurant and bar in late 2013. Yaro says in an email that it was "an amicable departure."
While Craft Work works on recruiting a new executive chef, the restaurant's sous chefs Stephen Schmidt and Zach Craig have stepped up in the kitchens. "We have three exciting and experienced prospects that I am meeting with and are going to take our time to find the best fit," Yaro adds. "Our back of house crew is solid and capable thanks to chef Daltons two years of mentoring."
Dalton and Yaro worked together for more than 8 years. The chef helped open Ronin Sushi in Royal Oak prior to Craft Work. Yaro says he respects Dalton's "character, integrity and hard work." Stay tuned for updates on a new chef at the restaurant.
