Royal Oak's Axle Brewing Co. is expanding into a full-fledge taproom in Ferndale. According to a release, the new spot dubbed Livernois Tap & Brewery will be located near Eight Mile on the city's west side. The company, which launched as a production brewery in 2015, plans to offer between 12 and 15 beers on tap.

Detroit-based firm Patrick Thompson Design is designing the 10,000-square-foot space that will include brewhouse, cellar, communal seating, large bar, seasonal beer garden, and dining area. Axle apparently won't be going it alone in the development of its menu. The brewery teases "a partnership with a prominent local artisan for the culinary component (to be announced at a later date)." The beer hall is slated to debut this fall.
