The lasting trope about hospital food is that it's terrible, but that's not necessarily so at the Detroit Medical Center. On Wednesday, the DMC unveiled its first round of restaurants in the freshly expanded Midtown Marketplace. According to Crain's, the $8.2 million addition in partnership with Papa Joe's Gourmet Market & Catering brings a variety of new dining options to the medical campus and the surrounding business district.

Thai food eatery Sukhothai, Burger Bar Detroit, Chiqui ( a burrito bar by Ann Arbor restaurateur Adam Baru), and Estia Greek Street Food debuted this week in the 15,000-square-foot food court, with Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina, Papa Joe's Gourmet Foods, Starbucks, Kabob Grill, and Menchie's Frozen Yogurt to follow in the coming months. Patrons can gain access to the Marketplace restaurants through the Brush Mall and DMC Harper University Hospital entrances.
