Another cheesy Tom + Chee outpost is landing in Metro Detroit. The Cincinnati-based fast-casual franchise will roll out its second Michigan location in Troy next week, according to DBusiness. The 70-seat restaurant will features a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, salads, and tomato soups as well as grilled cheese doughnuts, which may require a post-meal visit to your cardiologist.
Tom + Chee opened its first Michigan restaurant last June in Northville. The launch into a new territory prompted a visit by then-Detroit Free Press food editor Sylvia Rector. The critic found the two sandwiches she tried to be "flavorful and nicely balanced" though the stunt-y doughnut concoction was not her style. At least four more locations are planned for the metro area. The doors at the Troy location swing open on February 12 at 10:30 a.m.
