The James Beard Foundation has just announced its semifinalists for the 2016 restaurant and chef awards. Once again several familiar chef faces are repping Michigan, including Andy Hollyday of Selden Standard and Garrett Lipar of Marais. At the top of the list, James Rigato's Mabel Gray is also the running for Best New Restaurant of the Year.

Over the next several months, the semifinalists list will be pared down. Nominees in each category, along with nominations for book, journalism, broadcast media, and restaurant design awards, will be revealed on March 15.
