Brunch at Honest John's in Detroit, Saturday at 11 a.m.

Welcome to a special Breakfast Week edition of Eater Scenes, a photo series in which photographers Michelle and Chris Gerard visit some of the city's classic and contemporary destinations to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Here is a look inside one of Detroit's finest dive bars, Honest John's.

Brenna Houck is a Cities Manager for the Eater network. She previously edited Eater Detroit and reported for Eater. You can follow her on the internet at @brennahouck.

On Second and Selden Street, laid-back Cass Corridor bar and grill Honest John's offers an inexpensive breakfast menu that expands into longer brunch hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Gathered at the bar and in booths under the glow of cheeky neon signs diners sip on fresh mugs of coffee, bloody marys, and even the occasional glass of breakfast wine while catching up on the news or fighting off last night's hangover.

Photographers Michelle and Chris Gerard visited Honest John's on a Saturday around 11 a.m. at the beginning of the brunch rush. Take in the scene in the gallery above.
