Jim Brady's Purchases Chung's Building; Two Restaurants Claim Space in Detroit ShipYard

CASS CORRIDOR — Shipping container food hall Detroit ShipYard expects to complete its purchase of a property next to The Peterboro by the end of February. Co-founder Jonathan Hartzell adds that two restaurants have already claimed space in the building with a third on the way. The project is expected to open in July. [MLive]

ALLEN PARK —€” Forthcoming gastropub Griff's Pub will feature a bar with a full bar offering beer, wine, cocktail designed by Steve Sorensen (previously of Atlas Global Bistro). Owner Christopher Griffin says the restaurant will have an "industrial rustic" look. [DBiz]

CASS CORRIDOR —€” It appears Jim Brady's has secured the former Chung's restaurant space on the corner of Cass and Peterboro for its forthcoming Detroit location. "Chung's was one of those memories from my childhood," restaurateur Tom Brady tells Metro Times. "My dad always said they had the best egg rolls. But once it started getting more violent, we kind of stopped going." The owners are anticipating a 2017 opening for the Detroit location. [Metro Times/Detroit News]
