Brush Park eatery Grey Ghost opened only five months ago, but already the founders are forging partnerships across metro Detroit. The Detroit Free Press reports that Axle Brewing Company has struck a deal with Grey Ghost’s John and Dave Vermiglio, Josef Giacomino, and Will Lee to manage the front- and back-of-house operations at its forthcoming Ferndale taproom.
While the team is still working out the menu details, Vermiglio says that diners can expect “beer-friendly” fare rather than dry-aged New York strips. “We'll have some fun.” While it seems early for a Grey Ghost expansion, the partners do have some experience managing multiple restaurants. Vermiglio was previously culinary director for the large Matthias Merges restaurant group in Chicago.
Axle Brewing Company revealed plans for its 10,000-square-foot European-style beer hall in March. Detroit-based firm Patrick Thompson Design is developing the look of the Livernois Tap & Brewery, which will seat around 85 patrons indoors with more than 60 additional seats in seasonal biergarten. The brewpub is expected to debut by March 1.
