Michigan Gilmore Girls fans hold onto your backwards baseball caps: Luke’s Diners pop-ups are coming your way on October 5. As Eater Detroit first-reported last week, coffee shops across the country will be transforming into the cult series’ most recognizable restaurant — including not just one, but six Michigan locations. Here’s where to get your Stars Hollow fix on Wednesday along with (FREE) coffee:
Avalon International Breads — 422 W Willis St, Detroit
Always Brewing Detroit — 19180 Grand River Ave, Detroit
Urban Bean Co. — 200 Grand River Ave, Detroit
Chazzano Cafe — 1737 E Nine Mile Rd, Ferndale
Strange Matter Coffee — 2001 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing
Biggby Coffee — 725 W Grand River Ave, Suite 2, Williamston
The full list, which includes at least one location in every state, was revealed today by Netflix along with a few more scant details about what nostalgia and easter eggs about the forthcoming revival are in store for customers. Cafes will be “decked out with all the Luke’s Diner essentials,” according to a release. A manager from Avalon International Bakery noted last week that this would likely include branded aprons or T-shirts.
The streaming service has also picked up the tab for 250 12-ounce cups of coffee available from 7 a.m. to noon, which will have “a fun surprise” hidden beneath every “custom Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve.” Supplies are obviously limited, so those hoping for some free brew should plan on arriving early.
The Gilmore mania was orchestrated by Netflix to coincide with the 13th anniversary of the series’ pilot airdate and designed to build a literal buzz for the November 25 launch of the show’s anticipated resurrection, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
In the meantime, fans and Gilmore Girls virgins can binge watch all seven, food-filled original seasons of the show on Netflix now.
