Ambitious Detroit-based beer hub Atwater Brewery has just opened its new ‘Beer City’ aka Grand Rapids location, according to The Detroit News. Owner Mark Rieth launched the new biergarten and tap house at 201 Michigan Street NW for a test run this week, but the grand opening is slated for October 26.

The tap house features 40 rotating beers on tap along with hard cider and booze (including cocktails), and a food menu from new executive chef Adam Hightower features sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and some meaty Belgium waffle offerings.

The ever-expanding Atwater has been eyeing opportunities to develop new taprooms and small-scale brewing outposts in Boston and Chicago. In 2015 alone, the brewery redesigned its labels, introduced a spirits line and added a rather controversial Rivertown taphouse as well as a new beer stand in the Joe Louis Arena to the mix. The company has doubled its production in recent years and is also in the process of building production facilities in Austin, Texas, and North Carolina.
