After a few paperwork oversights forced the restaurant's temporary shutter, La Rondinella is poised to return to Eastern Market on January 5. The date was announced via Facebook on December 3, with a winking promise to "cross our i's and dot our t's this time."

Dave Mancini, who also owns neighboring restaurant Supino Pizzeria, took enormous pains designing his new Italian restaurant, preparing the menu, and training staff. Renovations of the 1,000-square-foot eatery were estimated to cost more than $80,000 as of November 2014. The venue features a bright blue and white color palette and embraces the original building's structure with painted brick and restored tin ceilings. Wooden chairs, banquettes, and stools along the bar give the restaurant a warm feel. Photographers Michelle and Chris Gerard recently took a tour of La Rondinella. Take a look in the gallery above.

La Rondinella will open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
