A sushi burrito slingin' restaurant is headed for Royal Oak later this month. Yuzu Sushi Co. is a concept by Mario Gojcaj, Chef de Cuisine at Downtown Louie's in Detroit. Gojcaj tells Eater that Yuzu is inspired by similar concepts on the West Coast that offer sushi burritos — a large sushi hand roll that's served like a burrito. Customers can choose between soy paper or nori wraps as well as brown or white rice. However, the likeness to standard sushi ends there. Fillings range from more traditional sushi options like unagi to fusion choices like curried chicken or satay.
Yuzu will also serve poke rice bowls. The restaurant is expected to swing open on January 27. Check out a preview of the menu below.
Correction: An earlier version of this article referred to sushi burritos as "sushirritos." The phrasing has been updated for trademark reasons.
