Royal Oak's Zumba Mexican Grille changed owners and will undergo a revamp and rebranding next month, the Detroit News first reports. The fast-casual restaurant is expected to stick with the same format and preserve Zumba's "bowl-rito" option, while introducing a selection of street tacos and grilled corn on the cob (aka elotes). Meanwhile, the new name — Detroit Taco Company — is likely to inspire a chorus of groans from city-limit purists.

Zumba first opened on Main Street in 2000, according to the Detroit Free Press. The restaurant then moved briefly to Birmingham before returning to Royal Oak and setting up shop in its present location in the spring of 2012. Zumba will shut its doors officially with a send-off party from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on October 12. The Detroit Taco Company is slated to swing open November 1.
