One of Metro Detroit’s most anticipated restaurants Mabel Gray is launching a series of soft openings starting with a staff meal tonight. The Hazel Park eatery headed by chef James Rigato (The Root Restaurant & Bar) announced the event via social media. Mabel Gray will host several more soft opening services throughout the week with an official public debut to follow on or around September 29.

Rigato caused quite a stir when he announced the new pet project last spring, championing Hazel Park as a great city for young entrepreneurs to grow new businesses. The restaurant, located in a former Coney Island-style diner, rapidly transformed this summer into a trendy eatery with a worn-in urban look by designers Ron & Roman. Rigato will focus on serving seasonal and foraged ingredients. Stay tuned for more details.
