BEER HERE — A new pedal pub venture, The Handle Bar, is set to debut October 2 in downtown Detroit and Royal Oak, taking full advantage of the updated regulations allowing beer and wine consumption on the cycle-powered vehicles. Unlike Royal Oak's forthcoming Michigan Pedaler pub, The Handle Bar allows customers to bring booze onboard. The pub also features a designated pedaler. DISASTER REPORT — The Cheesecake Factory in Novi's Twelve Oaks Mall will reopen later today following a small fire at 5:30 a.m. this morning. "The problem was with a small gas line in the kitchen, which failed," said Sheryl Walsh, director of communications. "Workers had previously turned off the exhaust system in the kitchen in order to do maintenance. The morning crew was unaware of the shutdown and turned on the burners on the kitchen range."
