Royal Oak will receive a new frozen dessert destination this weekend when Golden Cone swings open. Owner Boris Bozinovski tells Eater the shop, adjacent to Little Bros. Burgers, is training staff "ironing out the kinks" with the goal of opening Friday.

"We're going to make all our own frozen custard in-house and offer local farm-made ice cream [from Guernsey]," in addition to Detroit Pop Shop popsicles he says. The Cone will feature a flavor of the month plus the traditional vanilla and chocolate custard, as well as 24 ice cream flavors. Visitors can pick up their order to-go through the walk-up window, though the shop also has limited indoor and patio seating. Bozinovski says his shop will start off with a limited menu at first. No official hours are available yet. Stay tuned.
