Booze News: Cider Dayz Festival; World of Beer Headed to Canton

— Armada will host the first annual Cider Dayz festival September 29 and September 30 with local breweries, cider mills, and and wineries from Michigan. Find Rochester Mills, New Holland, Founders, Tandem Ciders, and more pouring alongside food, games, and music. One-day passes are $35 and two-day passes are $55. [EaterWire]

— From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 8 Degrees Plato Detroit will be selling "Early Settlers" memberships to Plato Nation for a discounted $40 (normally $50) at the Cass location (It's not open yet but you can take a look around). The membership grants the holder all day happy hour draft prices, 10 percent-off merchandise at both locations, updates on Plato events and inventory, and first-dibs on ticketed events. [Facebook]

Detroit City Distillery hosts its capstone competition wrapping up the "Summer of Gin" on August 31. Finalists James Downs (Selden Standard), Paul Fradeneck (Honest John's), Chas Williams (The Oakland), David Martinez (The Last Word in Ann Arbor), and Will Lee (Selden Standard) will duke it out for a $1,000 grand prize and the chance to be dubbed Ginsmith.
