FOOD TV — A Sterling Heights woman is competing in an upcoming episode of Food Network's Cake Wars. Laura Amodeo of Elegance Sugar says she designed an elaborate log cabin cake as part of a Girl Scouts challenge. [MLive]

COMING ATTRACTIONS — Tickets are on sale for Hour's biannual Savor Detroit event that pairs chefs from different metro area restaurants for a tag team tasting menu. This fall's events feature some surprises like James Rigato of Mabel Gray and The Root paired with Top Chef Mei Lin and Antietam chef Brion Wong paired with chef Kate Williams for forthcoming Corktown restaurant Lady of the House (That's right.
