On Tuesday afternoon, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton hit Old Redford neighborhood restaurant Sweet Potato Sensations for lunch. In true soul food fashion, the former Secretary of State ordered black-eyed pea and collard green soup, sweet potato cobbler, and sweet potato ice cream.
The Detroit Free Press reports Clinton was in town for a fundraiser and says she wants to focus on the small-businesses:
I'm making a real point of identifying and visiting small businesses that are successful — sometimes against the odds — but are providing a service or product that people in their communities are buying up, and giving a good base for growth. And that's what we need to do more of.
In June, Clinton voiced her support for the "Fight for 15" by phone to fast food workers convening at a Detroit convention. The caramallow latte-lovin' former First Lady also caused a small media craze when she covertly stopped by a Chipotle for lunch in April.
Update, 07/22, 8:09: She also jumped on the juice trend with a strawberry pineapple green smoothie.
