Tom Perkins visits Michigan's only Moroccan restaurant: The latest in a rotation of tenants to fill an old Taco Bell, Perkins thinks Casablanca is unique enough to stay. "Sweet and savory is the name of the game in Morocco," notes Perkins, who approves of Casablanca's take on the diverse dish blends. Indulging in each complex course, bistilla appetizer to seffa mdfounda entree, Perkins gives the Moroccan flavors and friendly service "high marks." [Metro Times]

Molly Abraham dines at Sapori in Washington Township; 3 stars: Impressed by the authentic Sicilian feel, Abraham seems pleasantly surprised with maestro Salvatore Monteleone's newest culinary endeavour. Sapori's courteously chatty chef and staff amplify the Italian feel of this authentic "country inn". Monteleone's "devotion to fresh ingredients — he goes to farmers' markets himself — is particularly noticeable," Abraham writes. Carefully crafted house salads, an "array of pastas," and heartier dinner plates hit all the right palate points. If that's not enough, Abraham is sold by the homemade gelato on Sapori's "flower-bedecked patio." [Detroit News]
