Just months after opening a second café in New Center, Café Con Leche is aiming to expand and update its Southwest location. Husband and wife team Jordi Carbonell and Melissa Fernandez launched a crowfunding campaign June 1 with the goal of raising $15,000. The money will go towards adding 800-square-feet to the current space to accommodate more patrons, replacing the bar, revamping the color scheme, installing sound buffers for improved acoustics, and incorporating new art into the café.

Out Southwest Detroit location has been a community staple since we opened our doors. Now, we're looking to expand it...

The café offers a rendering of the proposed changes, which mimics the design at the New Center location. Drop ceiling tiles hang over a bar decorated with custom-designed blue and white mosaic tiles, while the color scheme is grey.
