Metro Detroit restaurant chain Andiamo is getting into the food truck game. The new rolling restaurant debuted at Grand Prix last month, but will make its official appearance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday on the corner of Brush and Monroe in downtown Detroit, according to a company release. The first 50 diners to arrive will receive a free bowl of pasta.
The introduction of the 18-foot food truck is yet another move for the company set on reinventing its image for a younger clientele. "The food truck movement is a relevant and natural next endeavor for us to reach new and younger customers in a fun and exciting way," says Andiamo Restaurant Group's founder and CEO Joe Vicari. In December, Vicari revealed plans to revamp several Andiamo restaurants for a younger customer base by eliminating white tablecloths and introducing one-page menus and high-energy servers.
The truck will offer items like calamari, sausage and peppers, pasta with meatballs, paninis, salads, and mozzarella bottone (fried mozzarella cubes in tomato-bacon olive sauce).
