Aaron Egan tries Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery: Jolly Pumpkin's casual order-at-the-counter format seems suited to Midtown's college crowd the critic writes. Don't be deterred by the conveyor belt-like contraption behind the counter. Pizza's here come with "well-caramelized" toppings and a crust that "ends up remarkably sturdy despite its relatively thin profile." The sandwiches also earn high marks. They make for "really good bar food, done with some cleverness and skill."
Molly Abraham reviews Wicked Table in Farmington Hills: "The new Wicked Table makes the most of its location in a nondescript strip of shops in the far reaches of Farmington Hills," writes Abraham. A few trendy vegetables — brussels sprouts and kale — that Abraham doesn't care for ("there they are again") make the menu. However, the critic seems pleased that chef Kirk McKinney and owner Penny White have taken the menu in a different direction with a mixture of American and international dishes. "In the early going, the most popular dish of all seems to be the classic all-American chicken pot pie topped with puff pastry and a scattering of micro-greens." The restaurant also offers an enticing dessert list. Abraham awards the eatery 2.5 stars.
