Few people have probably heard of Amy Hang. She's an up-and-coming private caterer who's aiming to bring her talents to Detroit's pop-up scene. POP in the Checker Bar is hosting her first venture, "Seventh at Seven" tonight with four a la carte items on the menu. "It's a little nerve-racking," she admits.
Hang has a Chinese background and says her dishes incorporate Asian flavors, "but I also like classical and contemporary food." Find pork & thyme wontons, Chinese roast pork, Japanese curry noodles on tonight's menu alongside what Hang hopes will be a tasty and surprising bacon croquette. If Seventh at Seven isn't in the cards, keep an eye out for Hang or check out the blog where she chronicles her experiments with food. The chef plans to host a few more events this summer.
