Zingerman's Creamery is considering an expansion. The Ann Arbor store that offers cheese, gelato, and sorbet aims to add a restaurant and events space to its business permit and move to a larger building across the street. The company will present their proposal at a public hearing before the township's planning commission on June 4. [DBusiness]
Update, 06/01, 2:47 p.m.: Pittsfield Township has denied Zingerman's Creamery's liquor license application, according to The Detroit Free Press. The company's proposal included an expanded tasting area for sampling not only beer and wine, but also mixed drinks. The Township denied the proposal due to the limited number of Class C liquor licenses available (Pittsfield only has five left to grant through 2021). Zingerman's Creamery currently holds a liquor license that allows for wine and beer tastings, but not cocktails.
