In September, a pair of Spanish businessmen announced plans to open La Dulce, a tapas and churro restaurant, in downtown Royal Oak. Today, work at the location, previously occupied by Footprints shoe store, appeared to be nearly finished (not surprising considering the restaurant was initially expected to open in March). While owners of the bistro could not be reached for immediate comment, a peek through the windows revealed a bright white interior with shelving similar to initial renderings and a completed façade with signage and inlaid lighting.

Update, 5/14, 6:11 p.m.: "We're finishing up with the last inspections and finishing details," co-owner Luis Negrete-Escobedo tells Eater. Despite a few delays, he expects the restaurant to open by the end of May.
