Esquire Network's cross-country bar crawl Best Bars in America is making stops in Detroit during upcoming episodes. The show, hosted by comedians Sean Patton and Jay Larson, will air spots set at Vinsetta Garage and Café D'Mongo's.
"They spent a fun Sunday with chef Aaron Cozadd and the guys at Vinsetta. Somehow we were lucky enough to make the cut," says Vinsetta Garage owner Curt Catallo. The restaurant will be featured in Wednesday's episode, which airs at 9 p.m. Café d'Mongo's Speakeasy is also planning a watch party during a rare Wednesday opening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on May 27.
In October, film crews visited Two James and Cadieux Café in addition to D'Mongo's and Vinsetta Garage, although there's no word on whether these spots made the season. The magazine named Detroit "Bar City" for 2014 in its June/July issue, focusing on locations like Sugar House, Cliff Bell's, The Bronx Bar, and The Oakland.
