Dago Joe’s Owner Cuts Offending ‘Joke’ From The Menu

Joe Sciamanna decided keeping the phrasing wasn't good for business.

Dago Joe's has cut its fried cheese stick "joke" from the menu, following public backlash. Earlier this week a WXYZ reporter caught up with owner Joe Sciamanna at his truck near Campus Martius, after receiving a complaint from a viewer who found Dago Joe's mozzarella stick description offensive. At the time, Sciamanna explained away the phrase as a joke; however he's since changed his tune.

"At first, I thought it was funny, but if it's not good for business, I will take it off," Sciamanna told The Macomb Daily. "I had it blacked out, then someone wiped it to it was readable, so now I have used a knife to cut it from the menu."

The website menu has also been updated to read: "Not just breaded, they're battered. With your choice of sauces of ranch dressing."
