Workers erected a fence today around the lot next to Detroit Institute of Bagels. The vacant space will host the new Corktown Farmers Market, which is slated to debut in May according to employees at DIB. The bagel shop received a $10,000 grant from Hatch Detroit and the Detroit Lions in November for improvements to the lot. The farmers market will host vendors weekly from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays according to the project website. A dozen vendors are expected to appear at the market including Grown In Detroit, Friends Potato Chips, Love's Custard Pie. Gold Cash Gold's Eli Boyer tells Eater the restaurant will also offer fresh breads at the site.
