Eastern Market Will Unveil Revamped and Expanded Shed 5 This Saturday

The historic market's renovation includes a community kitchen for food entrepreneurs.

Eastern Market's $8.5 million renovation and expansion of Shed 5 is complete and will be unveiled Saturday. The new Shed 5 will feature a community kitchen, Kid Rock Kitchen Commons, public market space, and the outdoor DTE Energy plaza, according to DBusiness.

The community kitchen will offer rentable, commercial space for start-ups, established chefs, businesses, and the public. In addition to offering a venue to prepare food for events, family reunions, and an array of other activities, the kitchen will be used to host cooking classes.

The official ribbon cutting takes place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday.
