Four Upcoming Dining Events to Check Out

DOWNTOWN — Grand Trunk Pub is hosting its annual Game of Thrones beer dinner beginning at 7 p.m. April 29. The pop-up features brews by Dragonmead and four courses that will make you feel like Robert Baratheon minus the boar goring. The menu includes mutton in onion beer broth, deconstructed stuffed grape leaf salad, tomahawk with apple chips, and a pomegranate grapefruit dessert. Tickets are $50.

FRANKENMUTH — Check out 300 different beers in Frankenmuth May 15 through May 16 during the World Expo of Beer. The event features Michigan breweries including Tapistry, Short's, and Motor City Brewing alongside major craft labels like New Belgium and Dogfish Head. Prices vary depending on the number of days and drink tickets purchased.

CORKTOWN — Chefs Reid Shipman, Jason Osburn, and Brandon O'Sullivan will be popping up on Sunday at MotorCity Wine with "Fancy-Pants Bar Food." The eclectic menu features lamb tartar potato skins, pork belly sliders on pretzel buns, tater tot waffle poutine, falafel scotch eggs, yaki-tori, fava chevre dip with fried capers and tortilla chips, and adult-friendly Michigan Ice Wine ice cream.

DOWNTOWN — POP at Checker Bar is hosting FoodLab members Crème Detroipolis and Norma G's. The reasonably priced dinner ($20 advanced/$25 at the door) features sweet potato curry soup, stewed egg plant, chicken curry roti, and, vernor chocolate dream cake. Several of the items are vegan or gluten free.
