Hamtramck chocolatier Alexandra Clark's decadent bon bons will soon be on sale in the Chrysler House building. Despite churning out hundreds of chocolates per week, she tells Eater, Bon Bon Bon's small kitchen and retail space can no longer handle Detroit's demand for chocolate.
Clark began her operation by opening for retail only one day per week and says it has gone "extraordinarily well." However, after less than a year in Hamtramck, it seemed time for expansion. Her new 400-square-foot downtown location will be retail-only. "I love its central location. It's close to some of our current clients," she adds.
Meanwhile, keep an eye out for upcoming events and classes at the Evaline Street shop. Clark says she's expanding the brand's repertoire to include chocolate tastings and chocolate making classes. Her first sold-out event takes place next week and will introduce guests to flavors and brands of chocolate from around the world. Clark expects her second location to open this spring.
