In less than a month, Bumbo's owners Tia and Brian Krawcyzk have revived Hank's Bar as a pub that walks the line between classic dive and contemporary bar. The couple worked tirelessly revamping the space, including removing the 45-year-old drop ceiling to reveal vintage tin tiles. They've walled-in windows, completed rewiring, updated the lighting, replaced the floors, and applied a fresh coat of paint. The Krawcyzks also removed the bar's lottery games and updated the old jukebox, exchanging country and Top 40 hits for a fresh playlist.
"It's taken a great shape and we're just going to keep chipping away at it," Tia says. The next item on their bucket list will be replacing the sign (the outdoor awning still says Hank's). While the couple is months away from offering food, they're slowly adding more hours. Neighbors can drop in for a beer or a Happy Hour cocktail and get updates on their progress.
