EVENTWIRE — Chef Brendon Edwards and fellow Antietam alum/bartender Joe Rob are teaming up for a pop-up Jazz Feast at Music Hall Detroit March 15. On the menu: lemon roasted root vegetable tartlets, shrimp rice cakes, braised pork shoulder sliders, and almond grougers paired with Rob's Carrot Ginger Rhum Agricole punch and Cliff Old Fashioneds. Edwards implied last fall that a new restaurant concept was "in the works"and Robb mysteriously left The Sugar House in December. Coincidence? Perhaps. Tickets to the dinner are $60 plus the price of the show. [EaterWire]
BEER HERE — Beer store 8 Degrees Plato is hosting an Irish beer tasting on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature non-Guinness varieties of Irish and Irish-style beer. The shop has also been pretty insistent on social media about keeping April 23 open. Maybe the opening date of their new Cass Corridor shop, which is expected to open in the first quarter of 2015? Or maybe it's something else. Stay tuned. [EaterWire]
POP-UPS — Colors Restaurant is hosting a YumVillage pop-up with chef Steve Kempner of DIBS on March 26. Chef Kempner is preparing blue cheese gnocchi, ratatouille, flounder, a bistro filet, and cherry chocolate bread pudding. Tickets to the event are $55 for a single ticket or $90 for a pair. ST. PATRICK'S DAY — In the spirit of boozy St. Patty's Day celebrations, lets focus on an essential dish that's sure to soak up the Guinness: corned beef sandwiches. Kat Rembacki of Core Detroit has the essential roundup of Detroit's corned beef. [CoreDetroit]
