Based on a quick snapshot of the bar menu during the café's soft opening preview, visitors can expect expertly prepared gin, rum, rye, and scotch-based cocktails alongside punch.

Designed by Daniel Moskop of Dan Huffman Architecture, the dining space will reflect the modern industrial feel of MOCAD with added warmth from plywood paneling and a sleek 14-foot bar. Beginning at 8 a.m. the café will offer Anthology coffee and pastries from Pinwheel Bakery and the ubiquitous Ann Arbor bakehouse, Zingerman's. The menu will transition from breakfast to lunch at 11 a.m. with soups, salads, and sandwiches, and bar snacks like spiced cashews.

Cafe 78 will open at 7 p.m. according to the restaurant's Facebook post. During this weekend's soft opening, doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday and will be closed on Sunday and Monday. Regular hours will begin on Tuesday.

The entrance fee for the general public at MOCAD's event is $10. Protomartyr and Double Winter will be performing live.

Café 78's official hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The restaurant is closed Mondays. The cafe offers free Wi-Fi. Museum members save 10 percent on their purchases. 4454 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI, 313-832-6622.
