The Zenith is expanding into the basement area of the Fisher Building with a new karaoke bar concept, The Wrectory. The club will debut at 9 p.m. on February 13.

Owner Robert Jasper says he and wife Melissa purchased a set of orange pews from a former Lansing church and used them as an inspiration for the venue's name and decor. Movie posters advertising retro x-rated films line the walls alongside crosses decorated with vintage pasty-adorned mannequins.

The space, which seats approximately 40 people, will host weekly heavy metal karaoke events as well as live bands. The Wrectory is also outfitted with a projector for screening films. Robert says they plan to rent the space for events. Customers will have access to The Zenith's menu, which now features five different types of poutine.
