Hour Detroit has named Torino its 2015 Restaurant of the Year for its "freshness, intensity, and reconnection to fine dining—and a serious examination of what a restaurant is and does," says Christopher Cook, chief restaurant critic for the magazine.

Headed by James Beard Rising Star of the Year 2015 semifinalist chef Garrett Lipar and owner Noah Dorfman, Torino has managed to capture many of Detroit's local accolades for its ever-changing tasting menu that offers diners a small bites of 10 to 12 items.

"Lipar is a genius in the kitchen. His food is exquisite, and his skill is easily on par with his counterparts in major cities around the country. He single-handedly lifts our expectations a notch higher and sets up a big challenge for others to match or surpass him," Cook says.
