Downtown Pontiac is gaining a brewery next year. Crain's reports that Laith Roumaya, former brewery manager at Southfield's defunct Copper Canyon Brewery, plans to open Fillmore 13 Brewery on North Saginaw Street. The 120-seat brewpub will feature between 12 and 15 ales and lagers on tap, brewed by Atwater's Bo Holcomb. Additionally, Fillmore will offer a bar menu of pizza, sandwiches, salads.

It's another promising sign for Pontiac's downtown area, which appears to be on an upswing. Last fall, Slow's Bar-B-Q in Corktown announced its expansion to Pontiac as part of The Strand Theater's redevelopment. Likewise, Menagerie Kitchen, a pop-up space, wine shop, and commercial kitchen, debuted on Saginaw in June. Some have also speculated that a building on Rapid Street acquired by actor Jason Momoa last year might eventually be transformed into a brewery called Chief of the Sixes.
