Bucharest Grill's original Park Bar location will relocate to the former Lucky's Grille on East Jefferson in early 2016, owner Bogdan Tarasov confirms to Eater. The new location will offer more than 75 seats and parking.
When Bucharest opened in 2006, the owner says he signed a five-year lease with the Park Bar. It felt like quite a long lease for someone who had never run a restaurant before, he adds. However, five years passed quickly and in that time Bucharest had achieved tremendous success, feeding a strong, steady clientele of workers, residents, and visitors to the sports and entertainment districts downtown. Now, several years after the lease changed to month-to-month, Bucharest is being asked to vacate. "We're just too busy for the space," he says.
Space was simply "not available," so he looked elsewhere for a new building he says of the Lucky's Grille location. Bucharest's team is aiming to make the move from Park a seamless transition for staff and customers. The goal is to complete renovations and inspections on the East Jefferson space by late January or early February. At that time, Tarasov will shut down, move, and reopen.
"I think we'll be doing it for the best," he notes, describing the East Jefferson spot as "bigger and better organized" with more dedicated seating and a larger waiting area for take-out orders. One thing that will be different is the bar. While the Park Bar location allowed customers to enjoy Bucharest with beer and cocktails, Tarasov does not have plans at this time to acquire a liquor license. "It's in very high demand and we try to be a family oriented business," he adds.
In the meantime, Bucharest is continuing to expand. A new location recently debuted on Piquette in Milwaukee Junction and the company is rumored to be opening a spot on The Avenue of Fashion next year.
