Early Tuesday morning, popular Livernois restaurant (and So Hot Right Now nominee) Kuzzo's Chicken & Waffles experienced not one but two break-ins, according to WDIV. Beginning at 2 a.m. two men broke in through the restaurant's back door and made off with the register drawer containing nominal amounts of cash. Approximately one hour later another thief pried the same door open with a crowbar and stole a safe out of the restaurant office. Fortunately, it was a dummy safe meant confuse criminals. Both incidents were caught on camera.
"To the individual that did break in, if you want a job, come see me."
"For the person who broke in, it wasn't even worth it to do it and anybody else for that matter," says owner and former NFL football player Ron Bartell. Still, he sees the unfortunate incidents as yet another opportunity to improve his community. "To the individual that did break in, if you want a job, come see me."
Unfortunately, restaurant crimes are all too common. Last month, a foolish thief in Clarkston attempted to break into a party store through the building's pizza oven vent and got trapped inside for more than 11 hours. Then in October, a pair of serial dine-and-dashers were caught days after walking out on a $142 bill at Magdaleno Italian Restaurant in Downriver.
