The Ferndale Cat Shelter's experimental cat café is open to the public. Volunteer director Deanne Iovan tells Eater that the Catfe Lounge opened a little over a week ago and is already seeing the desired result — more cat adoptions. For the moment, the Catfe Lounge operates a shelter with wifi, coffee, tea, and pastries available by donation; however, the organization plans to revisit option of building into a more formal café within the next four to six months. "It's all depending on how well received this is by the community," Iovan says.

The Catfe Lounge is open seven days a week 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
