Birmingham's Forest is preparing for an official reopening. A rep tells Eater that after several days of soft openings the revamped eatery is ready open its doors to the public on Monday. Chef Brian Polcyn sold the Forest Grill to majority owner Samy Eid (Phoenicia) earlier this year. Shortly after the sale, former Chef de Cuisine Nick Janutol was promoted to executive chef. Likewise, Janutol's wife Allicia has taken on the role of general manager.

The new menu is kept brief and draws on Nick Janutol's skill for preparing seafood and house-made pasta. There are also some surprising takes on fall dishes like carrot soup with mussels and pureed ginger. The restaurant will also feature an updated look with an enclosed glass kitchen and a wine cellar. Nana windows will be added next spring for an open-air feel. Forest is accepting reservations at 248-258-9400.
