Rubbed Launching Market With Fresh Produce, Meat and Cheese by the Pound

Rubbed is getting into the market business.

Corktown charcuterie shop Rubbed is expanding into the market business, co-founder Jason Frenkel tells Eater. Starting next week the restaurant, which offers sandwiches and small plates, will devote a section of the eatery to fresh produce as well as local and export products. Frenkel compares the expansion to West Village's Parker Street Market. Honey Bee Market isn't far from Michigan Avenue, but the Rubbed expansion will certainly help fill a niche now that the Corktown Farmers Market season is over. In addition to the fruits and veggies, Rubbed initially plans to offer coffee, pastries, meat and cheese by the pound, and to-go soup.
