It's been a brief three months since Cellarmen's first announced it was bringing mead to Hazel Park. But the team composed of B. Nektar expats moved fast to develop its brew house and tasting room in an old lumber store on John R. Today at noon the taproom swings open officially to the public.

Expect upwards of 10 brews including meads, ciders, and even a few beers. Co-founder Dominic Calzetta tells Eater the group is focusing on using local honey and whole fruits including Michigan apples and peaches from one of the crew's own backyards. Inside visitors will find a large 1970s room with wood paneled walls and rustic communal tables that the crew manufactured themselves using materials from the building.
Cellarmen's grand opening is October 17 from noon to midnight. The meadery will open weekly Friday through Sunday.
